Alternatives to Employment
Midway Community Cares Alternatives to Employment service seeks to ensure that people with disabilities who require an alternative to paid employment, have access to a range of opportunities to develop skills and participate within their community.
Midway Community Care uses a person-centred support model to enhance the independence, confidence, self-esteem, interaction skills and life choices of each person.
Much more than just a place to fill in the day, our services provide adaptable and flexible programs, actively engaging with people to help them to identify and express their needs and goals. Our staff engage with individuals to learn what is important to each person and work together to develop a personalised plan. This plan is flexible to change as the individual’s needs, interests and choices change. Our highly skilled, qualified staff and volunteers are matched to meet individual needs.
We provide opportunities designed to continually increase each person’s potential for everyday participation in the local community.
We work with each person and their family or decision makers to develop flexible, practical options that enable skill development and participation in new opportunities. Post-School Options supplies the tools for young people and their families to support their transition from school as they plan for the future.
Support options include:
- life skills training
- community access-based support
- support to transition to work
- centre-based support
- assistance for family and decision makers to support a young person’s transition from school
- social and recreational supports
- any other supports that are appropriate
